So Max learned how to be alone At least until Freak came along.Freak was weird, too. He had a little body -- and a really big brain. Elijah Jaja Bivens My review is of Freak the Mighty. My characters are Maxwell and Kevin. My setting is in a neighborhood in a normal town, when this kid named Kevin moves to Mighty’s neighborhood. Maxwell and Kevin hit it off and become friends and they go on many adventures. For example, getting Killer Kane back to jail; you will find out about that stuff….. If you read the book.__________________________________________My claim is that the theme for Freak the Mighty is friendship depends on sacrifice. This is because Freak dies at the end. For example, when Freak dies he gives the book of adventures to Mighty. Also, another theme could be yin and yang. For example, Freak meets Mighty and Mighty meets Freak. But….Mighty’s dad got out of prison, otherwise he made Mighty's life better because he got a friend and that gave him courage. Also, Freak did spend his time with Mighty when he could of played video games all day long…..but he did not!Well personally, I think that it gave a good idea of Freak the Mighty and it is a pretty sad book. Near the end, if I tell you I will spoil it for you, so you gotta read it yourself. Being big and dumb could maybe be use full like in a fight, and that's 1 good thing about Mighty at the start of the book. I think being big and dumb wold not really be useful, unless you are in a fight, but he is very nice and not like evil or bad, and he is pretty heroic at the end and he learns to write.___________________________________________Now I look at the world and say, “Dude, I should be happy for what I have, like legos (Legos are purely awesome!)” and instead of going more more more, I should appreciate what I have like a house, bedroom, and stuff. Like if somebody does not look like they are sick and you say you look healthy, than they would say, “No, I am sick.”________________________________________In Freak the Mighty I learned new words and diseases. It was pretty interesting and helpful learning about s omeone's life that could happen. It taught me about death too; death is nothing to joke about.________________________________________________________I think the author put a lot of work in it. That book had pretty big words and it is adventurous and yes, it is not a bad story, but a children's storey.____________________________________________________I enjoy novels and any type of book. It is wonderful with books; if books did not exist then I would be dumb. I would not say it is not my favorite, but it is one of my favorites. “Freak is holding tight to my shoulders and when they ask him for his name, he says, ‘We’re Freak the Mighty, that’s who we are. We’re nine feet tall, in case you haven’t noticed.’ That’s how it started, really, how we got to be Freak the Mighty, slaying dragons and fools and walking high above the world.” Freak the Mighty is a brilliantly written fiction novel by Rodman Philbrick. A strangely lighthearted read, it is directed towards sixth graders and up; Freak the Mighty is a quick and easy read that you will simply fall in love with. Maxwell is an oversized eighth grader with a small brain and a big heart. Frequently bullied in school, he’s never had much to say until Freak comes along. Kevin, nicknamed “Freak”, is a shrunken boy with a big brain; he practically knows everything. Fate brings the two opposites together. Watch as this ironically dynamic duo is left to deal with dragon slaying, bullies, and a devastatingly difficult past… a past that won’t stop returning. Max and Freak are both intriguingly detailed characters; both are filled with a swarm of thoughts and daydreams, not to mention a complicated past. Rodman Philbrick portrayed the characters in such a graceful way that will have you shoving strangers out of the way to race home and rip open the book. You will immediately connect with the painfully realistic protagonists, learning and laughing and crying with them, sharing their adventures. Drawn together by fate or coincidence, their friendship was not an accident. Several messages can be drawn from this story. One of the ones that stuck out to me was this: no matter how different you are, there will always be someone else out there that can relate. I find comfort in this, knowing that I am not alone. Keep your head up, keep pushing through, and someone will eventually come along the lonely road to accompany you. Freak the Mighty is set in the past; Maxwell recalls the adventures and describes his story in great deta il, as if he is telling it to an old friend. The author captivates the reader by including several details, making it feel as if they are actually there, conquering the world with Freak and Max. Readers will find themselves eager to delve into the crazy world of Kevin and Max; this story is simplistically beautiful as it easily attracts readers by the strange friendship of Freak the Mighty. Rodman Philbrick most definitely achieved his goal: to teach kids that not everyone has to be alike to be friends. Balancing and supporting each other, picking up for the things the other person lacks, that’s what true friendship is. A real tear-jerker, I feel that Freak the Mighty was a rollercoaster of emotions, but in the end, the story was elegantly complete. Readers of all ages will simply fall in love as they experience this delicately emotional story.
